Study visit to Ribera

Last week, we and the PHARMA & HEALTH POLICY HUB organised a great study visit to Ribera Salud with a diverse group of Dutch healthcare stakeholders.

Ribera’s integrated care model delivers high-quality care and outcomes at significantly lower costs than standard care in the region. This is crucial to sustainably transform healthcare in an increasingly challenging socio-economic and political climate in Europe, characterised by an ageing population, financial constraints and a shortage of healthcare personnel.

Key lessons from this study visit are:
Deep integration of primary and secondary care;

Strong and decisive management around optimal care pathways, defined by healthcare professionals;

A culture of providing the best possible health education and care to citizens through personalised care plans;

Compensation and incentives for staff focused on preventing diseases and delivering the right care at the right time in the right place;

Highly integrated IT and data system that supports patient care and reduces bureaucracy.

Health-Ecore will work on these insights to sustainably transform healthcare in the Netherlands. We would like to thank the team of healthcare professionals and managers at Ribera Salud for their openness and hospitality.
